ON FAMILY RELATIONS

By Herbert Muhammad

We see today that the teachings of Islam are freeing our people from the
evils and indecencies of this world, taking them off their knees,
standing them back on their feet and putting them on the right path: the
path of freedom, justice, equality, love and harmony.

It is Islam that is making them bid goodbye to the accepted Christian
religion and culture of their open enemy. The teaching of Islam changes
the people?s mode of thought, their very habits. They are turning the
uncouth into the cultured, the evildoers with bad characters, into good,
God-fearing and righteous people.

Islam takes the woman off the streets, placing them in their homes with
protection, making them respectful, protective, charming, affectionate
mothers and devoted, loyal understanding wives.

The woman are taught to respect themselves and the man by covering
themselves; to cover their hair and to lengthen their dresses. The more
difficult it is to obtain something, the more value is placed on it. By
nature precious things are protected and well covered.

Man?s most precious jewel is his woman. Islam cleans up the men-stops
them from drinking, gambling and wasting their money in sport and play ;
thereby making them fathers in their homes so their wives and children
can look up to them with respect. It is mandatory that the men protect
and respect the women.

Through the teaching of Islam, the mother is able to instill within her
children love and respect for their father, and to teach them love and
sympathy, forgiveness and understanding, truthfulness, appreciation and
consideration. She teaches them to be truthful and trustworthy in all
their dealing, to make no false claims and never take advantage of anyone.

In Islam the boys and the girls are placed under specially trained,
qualified teachers whom Muhammad Himself instructs in His teachings. The
children are taught to love and respect their parents, teachers and their
elders and to understand that learning is only possible when they pay
good attention.

The boys and girls are separated in order that they may receive the
proper training, so they may not disgrace themselves, their homes and the
Nation of Islam.

The boys are taught and trained to keep their bodies clean as well as
their minds, to accept their responsibilities and obligations and to
perform their duties. They are taught to respect and protect the female
and to be dependable and self- reliant. And they are taught to respect
the property of others.

The girls are taught and trained to keep their bodies clean, charming,
and graceful. Also, they are taught loyalty, devotion, modesty, and
morality. They learn how to cook and sew to care for their future
husbands and children. They are taught how to avoid everything that is
shameful,or that will cause them to have a guilty conscience.

The children are taught a lesson in love by looking at how great the
Honorable Elijah Muhammad?s love was for Allah and His people.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said to Allah :

“I will give everything. I will endure all things for Thy Sake. All
tortures, all torments that I may have to face in….life. I will bow in
humility before whatever is Thy Will. In health and in sickness, in peace
and in grief, my life and my death is all for Thee.”

Islam teaches severely against homosexuality, fornication, adultery,
incest, perversion, and the murdering of our unborn through destructive
methods. It teaches against lying and stealing, back-biting, hypocrites
and people who are envious. It teaches against drug addiction,
alcoholics, gamblers, con men, pimps who are selling their own women and
who place them in the hands of their open enemy without protection.

And it teaches against those who have no respect for themselves or anyone
else. The teachings of Islam wash the mud from the eyes of our people
whereby they can see for themselves. They unstop their ears so they can
hear for self. They straighten their tongues, whereby, they can speak the
truth. They break the chains of fear and ignorance from their minds so
they may understand themselves and others.

Islam straightens their backs, whereby they may stand upright and stop
wallowing in the mud. It directs their hands and feet to do for self and
not wallow in self-pity.

The teaching of Islam has such great power and the influence of that
power has a great effect upon the people that it even calms down those
with lion-like natures and they become as sheep.

Muhammad teaches all of His followers to do nothing to anyone that they
would not have done unto themselves, whether that person be Black or
white….His followers are not to bear arms and never to be the aggressor.

THE TEACHING OF THE HONORABLE ELIJAH MUHAMMAD
