SISTER CAPTAIN NETTIE MUHAMMAD was born November 26, 1923, in Gates
Tennessee to Louis Harris and Genora Riley Harris. She was the eldest of
nine children.
She reclaimed her own in the Nation of Islam in 1949. She became the
Secretary-Treasurer of Muhammad’s Temple No. 1 in Detroit, Michigan.
Through her dedication to Islam and her natural desire to help, SISTER
NETTIE MUHAMMAD was appointed Captain of the M.G.T. & G.C.C. (Muslim

Elijah Muhammad, Himself.

all who knew her. From her warm and loving smile, we grew to depend on

had.
SISTER CAPTAIN NETTIE MUHAMMAD was truly one of Allah’s blessings
