CHAPTER 36

PLAN TO DESTROY OUR RACE

The American so-called Negroes are gravely deceived by the slave-masters’ teaching God and the true religion of God. They do not know they are deceived and earnestly believe they are right regardless of how vile the white race may be.

My poor people are mentally blind, deaf and dumb and full of fear. Blind because they do not see the light of truth after being shown it for over thirty years. Deaf because they will not hear the truth, Islam that has come to them from Allah through the Messenger (myself).

They are dumb because they will not see or open their ears and hearts after the light has shown clear for many years. You are full of the fear that was instilled in you when you were babies, so Allah told. This fear was put in you by the white slave-masters through tortures, lynchings, burnings, rapings and killings and has caused you to be blind, deaf and dumb.

This fear of the white slave-master has caused you to love them in a crazy kind of way. You, my dear people, are like a woman desperately in love with a man who does not love her. Therefore, this love is blind. This man can beat, torture, ravage, humiliate, shame and mock, but she will yet love him. And even when someone tries to tell her that this man is no good for her and certainly does not love her, she will yet love him, and will become angered and defend such a man. This is a very sad thing, but a very true picture of the so-called Negroes. They love their tormentors.

Beware, they do not love you, they are like dogs with a bone. They do not want you to be taken by Allah’s messenger to your salvation. They want to carry you with them to their doom. The wicked white devils are by no means asleep to the knowledge of the time. They are really on the job trying to keep all of those who are blind, deaf and dumb to what is going on in this day and time mentally dead. They watch every step of the righteous Muslims, seeking to do them harm in their endeavor to spread the truth (Islam).

The people of Allah (so-called Negroes) are dumb to the time as the people were in the days when Moses was sent to Pharaoh to bring his people out of bondage into a land wherein they could enjoy independence. Instead of the Israelites being joyful to hear that Allah was ready to deliver them from Pharaoh and give them land of their own, they set ours to contend with Moses and to help Pharaoh and God (Jehovah).

The government of Pharaoh had no love for Israel, just as America has no love for the so-called Negroes, Pharaoh became afraid of the truth that Moses was teaching his people in the midst of his country.

So Pharaoh began to plan the death of Moses and the future of Israel by killing off the babies. Pharaoh wanted Moses put to death because he was teaching his people the truth of Pharaoh and his government of wickedness. Today, America is afraid of the power our great number presents. She fears that if we ever unite we would, overnight become, dependent.

America desires to keep us a subjected people. So she, therefore, wants to stop our birth (as Pharaoh did). The Birth Control Law or Act of today is directed directly at the so-called Negroes and not at the American whites. The story of Moses and the Pharaoh is a warning to you today. They are seeking to destroy our race by the birth control law, just as Pharaoh sought to stop Moses’ race by killing off all the male babies at birth. They are seeking to destroy our race through our women. DO NOT LET THEM TRICK YOU.

Follow me and we will, with the help of Allah, stop this most wicked sin against our people.

The Position of men and women

The following are notes recorded verb atum From our Leader and Teacher,
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad Relative to the position of men and women.

These are the words of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. I begin to quote:

“I have Sister Frances teaching the sisters, and seeing how they cook in
the kitchen. I want to see what they have learned. I say you are in class
to learn how to take care of home, cooking and taking care of your
husbands. A man has no better heaven than a wife, and if he has no heaven
there, there is no heaven. Heaven begins in the home. A man is like an ox
trying to go out and pull a cart to get something to eat. Yet you will
find some of our women will treat the ox better. She would give it a pat
on the back. A wife’s mind should be to console her husband’s mind. We
want to prepare better men and women to be wives and husbands. A Woman is
the only heaven a man has. Our Saviour said this and said the woman must
honor the man and must obey him. A man and woman are like twins before
marriage and after marriage are one. Man and woman are part of each
other, flesh and blood. Holy Quran states you are created one of each
other. Saviour says, ‘Brother we control the woman, we are the boss. If
you want her to obey you, keep her in the house. If you don’t keep her
under control she is dangerous. We don’t trust her. Satan ruins the
woman. He does not want her shut in, but on display. She is hard to
train. What is woman for? We got her to work for her and for her to
console you. She is to do something in the way of making you feel good to
go out tomorrow to work. Otherwise, man is outside looking for peace of
mind. No man wants a woman home arguing with him. I’m telling you the
truth. I know by experience. Man does not care if he satisfies her or
not. He has no spirit for it. Woman, speak a good word for him. whether
he works hard or not. Console him. Respect him. When we learn better, we
should do better. Man should not wreck the peace of the home by arguing.
He should tell her by not acting savage. Don’t depart from each other
without letting the other know. Be civilized in asking and telling.
That’s right acting. The man in Islam must change. We must treat her
right and we must make her treat us right. Give her what she needs.
Provide for her. Tell her if she wants to see what’s out, I’ll take you
around. What does a wife look like telling her husband she has a right to
go because he goes. The man always goes out looking as a provider for his
wife and family. What does a man look like taking care of a woman who
goes where she pleases. She should go where he pleases and it pleases
him. Holy Quran teaches “one is an enemy to each other for they are
divided”. Keep up the happy spirit in the home. Again the woman is to be
a consoler in every way; mends his clothes. She is to work to try to
please you. Then you’ll try to work to please her. This is for all of us.

Newly married and those who have been married. Islam is a peaceful
religion. When you become one, one can be one. If you have to take away
from one you must turn it into a fraction. If you have become one you
should think in terms of one and work in the interest of one. Man and
wife in Islam are one. She works to please her husband and he works to
please her when he knows he has that kind of wife. God is one, the
religion is one and man and wife are one. One and One. Woman must do her
part as a wife. Birth children, nurse them and have a peaceful home. This
is Islam. We were savages yesterday. Let us be civilized today. Birds
show good examples of love toward each other. The worst hell is an icy
spirit between husband and wife in a home where there is no peace, no
love. This is hell, where two don’t want each other. A wise human being
who has vision should show more sense than that animal who has no vision.
Then, God can smile saying I extend peace to them and they have peace.
The Holy Quran states, “I have adjusted your affairs adjustable.” And I
say to you, nothing is more pleasing than to have peace at home daily.
Holy Quran states if you can’t get along, I permit you to divorce, but it
is not the way of the Lord. Settle down to a good choice, settle down to
one who will bring you peace and contentment. Don’t speculate; if you
can’t get along, go. When you come to an agreement, don’t pick up embers
of it and throw it into a new disagreement. We must learn to live in
peace or live out of it. A man and woman are made to make peace for each
other, that makes peace for a nation. Woman must always submit and
recognize man as the head. Even if the husband is a junky husband yet he
is the man. By nature man can’t submit to the woman. Holy Quran says
woman has equal rights as he has rights over her, But these rights are
defined. We are talking about rights now, not authority. Rights are not
authority. Holy Quran says he is exalted over you. He is the sustainer
over you. He is the authority and woman is subject to the authority. Love
makes us humble to the law. If we love each we won’t disagree. When you
love someone, you love them for yourself. Its the woman who is the 2nd
self. Man is the 1st self. When first life germ created in darkness it
brought itself into being and became a light of himself and from himself
he produced a sphere and mattered it into matter. How could man be a self
light? We need that which gives off a light and the lightning bug is in
their own light. The God did that to give you a sign. Jehovah made Moses’
skin to shine. Electric is in the light and the light is part of us and
we created that sun but the sun did not create us. We are self created.
Since you can’t find the end of light, you can’t find the end of God. If
you can’t understand the source of light you can’t understand the source
of God. Thank you.

can do if we can get this paper into the hands of one million Lost-Found

Muhammad Speaks, that is a wonderful name to give our paper…Muhammad
Speaks. It makes you feel good. Muhammad Speaks. When He speaks He gives
life to the dead!

Everyone wants to hear Muhammad Speak. If they can not see Muhammad, they
want to read what he is saying. If the word can do this much for our
people, then the Prophets predictions are true. Just the truth alone is
enough the Word alone is sufficient. The Word alone is power and
life…don’t need anything else. The Word alone is sharper and more
powerful than the little sword.

If I were out there, I would say, “bring me a Muhammad Speaks.” In this
great city of Chicago, with hundreds and thousands of our people all
around here on the South side, we have moved up greatly. From two to
three thousands papers now selling around thirty thousand copies here in
a few days.

I don’t want to say that there is room from improvement. It makes a man
think he is not improving much. I want to say this. We were good
yesterday, according to the Word of God and the work of the universe
which he created. Allah created the heaven and the earth. He reproduces
it. He doesn’t let it stand still. It is ever revolving and is doing
still more. Since we are in the circle, we are never satisfied with our
accomplishments. We must always be seeking to do better!

Never be satisfied to stand still. Always seek to do better. If you sell
Muhammad Speaks you are doing the work of a minister.

I think we can sell a hundred thousand copies (in Chicago alone). Get out
and prove to Allah that we are ministers of His Word. Ring the bell and
say “good morning” or “good evening”. Then say, “Muhammad Speaks.” This
is sufficient.

“Muhammad Speaks.” That is all you have to say. Don’t preach a sermon.
Don’t read a page! Don’t say anything but, “Muhammad Speaks”

Our people in the east want to know what you are doing for yourself.

This is your paper.

The dead is not risen unless they read Muhammad Speaks.

Every intelligent family reads a newspaper of some kind. Why not read
Muhammad Speaks? They will, if you present it to them.

Going from door to door selling Muhammad Speaks is equal to charity.

Sell subscriptions for this paper to every family. Don’t force them! Just
say, “Muhammad Speaks.” That’s all you have to say to them. They will buy
it! Do like that. Fifteen cents, “Muhammad Speaks” or $1.80 for 12 issues.

You will sell these papers all over! We will sell one million copies in a
month. If Muhammad doesn’t speak to 20 million people, then the dead is
not risen! It must reach all of them. Not one should be ignored. Everyone
must here Muhammad Speak!

If you get behind this paper it will help you to give charity to the
cause. The paper will do the job, wherein we have been struggling in the
past carrying the burden. If we get behind the paper, it will fill all of
those cracks and broken panes that the storm took out because we did not
have a job.

If you allow Muhammad to speak in every home, you will find that the
paper will get what you have been trying to get with labor.

We are trying to get this started. I think we should get together and
produce our own paper like the others.

Let’s get together and be independent and produce our own paper.

THE PAPER: THE NO. 1 PROGRAM

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Messenger of Allah, speaks on the Muhammad
Speaks Newspaper,

There is truth in our newspaper, Muhammad Speaks! There are some of us
who say we are willing to give our lives for the truth or that we will
die for Islam. Yet, we are not willing to go out and among the public and
offer the truth to our dead Brother living right next door to us! Think
over that!

The truth is right in our paper. Your dead brother who is living next
door to you, does not know it! Why don’t you go knock on his door? Say:
“Brother, wouldn’t you like to read this? Here it is.” You are then
helping to raise the dead. You are doing charitable work for the cause of
truth. However, you say, “I cannot sell papers.” Why are you telling me,
brother, that you will give your life? You cannot give your life for that
which you will not give your time.

Some of us show that when we sell the paper, we care nothing about the
truth. We take the money we make for the paper and use it for ourselves
instead of using it for the truth, by paying for our papers. You should
be ashamed of yourself! You should sell a million papers in Detroit
alone. The people are not rejecting the paper. It is you who is refusing
to carry the paper to the people. You are the one. The people want the
paper!

Throughout the country, I find very little opposition to the Muhammad
Speaks Newspaper. Everyone now wants to read what Muhammad is saying. I
don’t blame them! Anytime a man comes under the chains of bondage of the
white man, then speaks and says the things Muhammad is saying, I would
walk ten (10) miles to buy one. If you give them to me to sell, I would
not sleep until I was turned down by all of the people with an arm full
of papers.

Brothers, this paper will get you rest. It will bring life to you. It
will unshackle you. It will establish you on something that is your own.
Be ashamed of yourselves. You have the preachings. So go sell a paper to
the person without the truth from the one who is preaching. Do your part
of charity toward the truth.

Don’t say: “you don’t have time”. Yet you have time to “die for the
truth” but no time to represent truth. Of which one are you telling the
truth.

Allah is bringing light to a people that sits in darkness – all praise is
due to Allah.

There are many who have not even been to a meeting of Islam. The paper
gets the truth to them. The Christian world is on fire, but Islam will
live in a cool place!

Note to Minister: Our newspaper is very important. I am charging you with
the responsibility of instilling the followers at your Temple the spirit
to put a successful effort on your own.

This paper must go into every home, every issue. This paper must not die
because of the lack of enthusiasm or effort.

Note: What we are asking is small compared to what the devil is asking
for us and even his own people.

The devil will take people into his army for two or three years and some
lose an arm, a leg or an eye and may even become paralyzed for his cause.
Being asked to sell Muhammad Speaks is not half as bad as that!!!

How To Dress

MESSENGER ELIJAH MUHAMMAD WARNS THE M.G.T. & G.C.C…

Against Wearing Foreign Styles and Marrying Foreigners

Reprinted from June 28, 1968 edition of Muhammad Speaks

    This is a warning to the M.G.T & G.C.C. against adopting the
African dress and hair styles (this applies to the Brothers of the F.O.I.
also) and seeking to intermarry with foreign people whether they are
Muslims or not; and against accepting traditional African tribal styles
and garments with gay colors.

    Such Sisters will be dismissed, from now on, from the circle of
Islam, wherein I am the shepherd.

    No style of dress is to be warn but the style of real Muslim people
and the one that I am offering to you. The head piece of traditional and
tribal African people who are other than Believers of Islam is also
forbidden for you to accept.

      If you are not satisfied with the styles I give you then I am
not satisfied with you being my follower.

      Do not love to marry foreign people other than your people of
America (your own Black brothers and sisters who have been lost and now
found by God, Himself). If you do, I will no longer respect you as my
follower.

      Remember what intermarriage did for the people of Moses in
Median and elsewhere wherever they mixed with foreign people? They took
them away from their God and they were forbidden by Allah to intermarry
with people whose faith was not their own and later, a death penalty was
effected on the for such things, because the love of such foreign
disbelievers takes away your faith and your religion that God, in the
PErson of Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom praises are due forever, has
given to you for your success.

      As intermarrying with foreigners did to the people in the time
of Moses, it will do the same here in this day and time, if you marry
foreign disbelievers and traditionalists. They were not believers in
Islam and brothers and sisters who are going “drunk” in love with just
anyone whom they think is of their kind, will not stay in the circle here
with me.

      I will not permit it. God has not sent me to mix any such thing
as intermarrying or associating in such a way as “sweethearting: with
foreign people. A closer knowledge of this will be given to anyone of you
who would like to come and ask me personally, but you are not to do these
things.

    God is only after you to make you an example for the world to be
guided by. You are being given the tops of the Divine Wisdom and He wants
to make you the greatest of all people of the earth.

    Study Jesus’ parables of the “Prodigal Son”,” The Lost Sheep” and
“The Lost Tenth Piece of Silver” and other parables of the Old Testament
and you will find many parables there made of you and me here in America,
as being found and returned and put on top.

* “The robe of the righteous is white”.
* We never wear big clog shoes. We never wear out our shoes.
* We should not wear more than three colors at a time.
* We never go out of our homes without the proper head covering. We may
wear our headpiece or hat (M.G.T.). We do not have any hair
what-so-ever sticking out of our headpiece. We strive to always be with
the garment the Messenger designed for us when leaving our houses.
* We wear a camisole top and ankle length petti pants under all our
garments. (We wear a long slip under a lost-found long skirt.)
* We wear conservative clothes. We wear soft pastel shades
* We always have our clothes neatly pressed and immaculately clean.
Shoes shined and properly soled. Pocket books clean and shined.
* We are not dressed if we do not have gloves. A well-dressed M.G.T.
does not leave her home without her gloves, as she knows that gloves
complete her garment.
* Our nails should be trimmed and clean.
* We do not wear hanging earrings as this is out of place with the
refined and tailored M.G.T. look (they may be worn at home).
* Our hair should be clean, combed and well-groomed.
* Our teeth should be given daily care in the form of teeth brushing
and Bi-annual visits to the Dentist.
* We make sure the day before we wear a garment, that it is properly
mended where mending is needed.
* We must have our garments well tailored. As it is undignified to wear
a garment that does not fit properly or that is made improperly.
* We must strive to look clean, neat, well-pressed and well-tailored
each and every day. Not just for special occasions. For when we appear
in public, they (the public) do not look at us merely as individuals
but rather, they see us as representatives of The Most Honorable
Elijah Muhammad and the Nation of Islam. You will hear them say daily,
“there’s one of them Muslim sisters, you know the Muhammad followers.”
As Muslim sisters, we must give a good impression of Islam and our
leader and teacher, whenever we leave our home.
* We must remove spots and soil from our garments, check our hemlines
and necklines to make sure they are in good order.

Beards

    There are a lot of people who have a lot of beards. For some reason
or another they go around with a bearded face. I do not question the
reason why you want these beards. However I do say that they are
germ-carriers. They catch germs. When a man drinks water, milk or any
other liquid, he has to be awfully careful that he wipes his mouth and
the beard around his mouth. Anytime he tries to drink some liquid out of
his glass, he cannot get the liquid into his mouth without getting his
beard in it.

THE BEARD is no more clean than the surface of your clothes which is
exposed to filth of all kind. This is why we wear clothes; it is to
clothe our bodies against things that would make our bodies unclean. To
cover our face with hair serves the same purpose for the face. The beard
catches all that would light upon the face. It is more troublesome to
clean a beard than it is to clean the skin of the face from which the
beard is grown. We can easily cleanse a clean-shaven face with soap and
water.

Some people wear beards to emphasize their holiness. Others wear beards
for style or for disguise or because they want to be noticed as a
distinguish himself from others or according to some office that he holds.

Regardless to the reason, I want to set forth in these words, that the
beard is unsanitary. People just wear them to be distinguished one from
the other. If I were you, I would leave them off and try to keep my face
clean.

Imagine your wife, trying to find her way to your mouth, in order to kiss
you, through all of that beard. She would be kissing beards before she
got to your mouth. Maybe she could pick up a germ, with which you are not
acquainted. One that had lodged in your beard. Beards would be fine if
you wanted a basket for germ-catching.

IN WINTER…in cold frigid zones like the one of Chicago, Illinois and
Michigan…these are cold zones that we have here in North America, North
of the Ohio River, except far west…which is warmer.

We are living in cold zones and have zero weather with snow, ice and
sleet. When the least liquid hits these beards they freeze up, without
the wearer knowing it. He had better not be a tobacco-chewer trying to
expectorate in zero and sub-zero weather.

I AM against wearing beards. I am against men wearing long hair like
women. This is also traditional of the time of Moses. When the white man
came out of the cave, he was full of hair. Hair covered his whole body
and face. He had no barber-shop. They did not have such tools as we have
today. But we see how they go today. Most of them are clean-shaven except
those who want to distinguish themselves like Rabbi’s and priests.
However, most priests are clean-shaven…even the Pope of Rome.

Every now and then we find some who want to wear long beards. They wear
them but that does not mean that the beard is sanitary. They house germs.
I will not wear such germ-catchers and I will not tolerate with my
followers wearing such germ-catchers.

HERE OF late there has been a great upsurging of the Black Man…old and
young men also, coming out with a face covered with beard.

YOUNG BROTHER, it does not make you look modern when you let your hair
down on your neck and shoulders. They let their hair grow when there was
no barber-shop or barber who could trim people’s hair. Cut off that
pillow of hair behind your head, at the nape of your neck and trim your
hair-line around the back of your neck, like the modern man.

When you let the hair of the face and head grow long, you are wearing the
style of ancient traditional people and you are not classified with the
modern man of today.

If we desire to look distinct from other people, let us have something
that the world will admire and not something which was the tradition of
our people before these modern times.

ALLAH (God) even said that He would bring a new heaven and a new earth,
Is:65:17 to get rid of the stale world.

PROPHETS, of the Bible, say He will make all things new, Bible Rev. 21:1,
and that we should love that thing which He made new. I certainly am one
who loves it. I do not want to return to a  traditional garb of my
fathers before four hundred (400) years ago. I am not going to adopt any
of those jungle styles of our people.

I ASK you, if you would like to be a modern man, get away from trying to
imitate the non-modern man.

How To Get and Keep Employment

No. 1-We must recognize people, their office and authority whom we are
seeking employment from-that they are the people who own the country and
are in authority. They are the people who created the job which we are
seeking. They are the people from whom we are actually seeking our
existence, whether we work or play.

    No. 2-It is true that we are free for the last 100 years. We are
supposed to have been free to do something for self — make our own job.
But we have not the unity or the wisdom to create jobs for
ourselves–usually without the desire to shoulder the responsibility of
doing something for self.

   Today I say right here, that we are proving ourselves unworthy of
the freedom to become an independent nation, by our refusing the
responsibility to go out like men and women seeking the necessities of
life and well-being of our own self and nation.

  We now are actually making ourselves a shameful people by begging our
slavemasters to continue carrying our responsibilities after 100 years of
freedom–from the master’s mouth.

    REGARDLESS how treacherously this freedom was granted, we have had
100 years in which to side-step this treachery and find the most positive
way out of it — unity, education, love of self and kind first, instead
of trying to love everybody on the face of the earth and trying to please
everybody before self, or work towards the things which are most pleasing
to self.

    Now, to prove the ignorance in this matter, is the Civil Rights
Movement — which is not asking for anything but a chance to become a
permanent free slave to the same people to whom our fathers were in
servitude slavery. We could not be justified in asking the slavemaster
for equal freedom, equal justice and equality in what is his, if we have
the freedom to go for self.

    WE SHOULD even ask them to forgive us for asking them for
employment or for even asking them for a bowl of soup or a piece of
bread, after they gave us 100 years to do for self. You may not like
this–but truth is truth.

    Go to the employment office of the white man –the creators of your
jobs–with the above words in mind. You would not disgrace yourself if
you pulled your hat off — since you had all this time to make employment
for yourself.

    YOU MAY HAVE in your possession a degree or a diploma from their
schools or colleges. This makes it all the worse–you should be across
the street making a job for yourself. Speak nice to your would-be
employer (good manners).

    Do not count  how many of his own kind he hired before he talked
to you and turned you down. You are in no position to do so. Probably
those of his own kind to whom he gave employment had helped to create job
and founded the factories throughout the country, manufacturing and
supplying the needs of others — Perhaps of yourself.

    So, you are in no position to act equal and independent with the
employer. Our greatest trouble sometimes is leaving out the intelligence
which we should display.

    IF HE HIRES you:

    No.1 – God to work to give him a full day’s work. Do not seek to do
other than that. Respect the foreman as a foreman; the lieutenant as the
lieutenant; the superintendent as the superintendent.

    RESPECT ALL who go towards the making up of American Citizens and
who care for the unemployed people of this country. Do not hide around
corners on the job and rob the owner of 5 or 10 minutes or an hour’s
work. One who does so is not a man who needs a job — this is the action
of a man who needs a rest — or job to keep from working.

    You are free and you have no right to come back and beg a man for a
job and then not give him the labor you promised him in exchange for
payment. He bargained for your labor; not you idle time. This is nothing
but justice.

    GIVE YOUR employer your full time. Never let him catch you idling
on the job. Be honest with yourself and others.

    Do the best that you can to please your employer. Do not say, “I
will work as slowly as I can” in order to deny the employer an honest
day’s work. Say “I will do whatever I can to keep pace with the other
workers without becoming exhausted on the job.” Do so.

    WE CALL THIS  a full day’s work when a man does the best that he
can. Employers like a good laborer like you. I used to be a foreman
myself in several places, even in the South.

    The reason this warning is given you, is because I have received a
lot of complaints about your unemployment.

    GO AS clean as possible. Keep a clean mouth on the job and do not
use filthy, unclean, wicked or profane language. This is also
disrespecting the employment he has given you. Let that person know that
you respect his authority.

    Do not have unnecessary conversations on the job. He hired you to
work; not to converse — whether it is religion or whatever. Speak when
you think it is necessary. Do not try to advertise something without his
 permission. You should keep your mouth shut — and when you speak, do
so in the right manner. Do not take up the time of other employees with
idle conversation.

    IF YOU follow these suggestions, I am sure that you will tell me
next time that you are now employed and that your employer and you, both,
like your work. Thank you.

Evils of Which We Must Be Watchful

Most surely a minister of Islam is not one who is careless and slothful,
but a willing worker, watchful, and guarding himself against evil,
because two evils which I know, if we can guard against, we should make
worthy ministers.

First: Keep our eyes from coveting others luxury, such as money and fine
clothes. Second. The enticing beauty of women.

These two evils are most troublesome but there is another evil to be
watchful of and that is poverty. When we come to want and be in great
straightness; there is a test of our worthiness, but be not a stricker.
He that starts and turns back is not worthy.

Again, let us not rely on the already converted ones of another
minister’s, but concentrating on the ability of ourselves as to how many
can we bring into the fold of Islam. A good fisherman gets no joy out of
the catch of another, but is joyful over what he catches.

Again, Dear Brothers, remember the day is far spent and the night is
falling when no man can do any work; so let us be faithful and pull all
we can out of the fire before night overtakes us. There will be a great
falling away soon. Among those who say they love Him, but let us stand.
We are pressed not forsakened; smitten, yet not destroyed.

I charge one and all, be on your watch and guard against evil. Hold dear
and dearer to the only friend we have, our Saviour and Almighty Deliverer
of whom the world deemed lost; The Restorer of him that had gone astray
in the Wilderness of North America; unto Him be we submissive, that He
may pour upon us His wisdom and love, that we walk not in the path of
those whom wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray.

Now in the Name of Him in whom glory and honor is due, I pray we be found
worthy on His return, to enter His mercies, Saviour Fard Muhammad.

How To Tie a Bow Tie

To tie the Bow Tie Knot, select a bow tie of your choice and stand in
front of a mirror. Then simply follow the steps below:

Step 1- Place the bow tie around your neck, situating it so that end “A”
is about two inches longer than end “B”.
Step 2- Cross end “A” over end “B”.
Step 3- Bring end “A” up and under the loop.
Step 4-  Now double end “B” over itself to form the front base loop of
the bow tie.
Step 5 – Loop end “A” over the center of the loop you just formed.
Step 6 – Holding everything in place, double end “A” back on itself and
poke it through the loop behind the bow tie.
Step 7 –  Adjust the bow tie by tugging at the ends of it and
straightening the center knot.

How To Tie a Necktie

Step 1 – Start with the wide end “A” and extend it about 12 inches below
narrow end “B”. Now cross the wide end “A” over narrow end “B”

Step 2 – Now, turn the wide end “A” back underneath the narrow end “B”

Step 3 – Continue by bringing the wide end “A” back over in front of the
narrow end “B” again. Do not pull tight as you want the wide end “A” to
ride along the narrow end “B” in a later step

Step 4 – Now, pull the wide end “A” up, behind, and through the loop
around your neck

Step 5 – Now, hold the front of the knot loosely with your index finger
and thumb and bring wide end “A” down through front loop. As you pull
through, slide your index finger under the knot and begin to tighten the
knot and sqeezing the sides of the knot – this will begin to form the
dimple

Step 6 – Remove your finger from under the knot and squeeze the bottom
of the knot to form a tiny channel right underneath the knot. That is
your dimple. Now tighten the knot carefully to collar by holding narrow
end “B” and sliding the knot up. Fluff up the two sides of tie under the
knot on either side of the channel. This is the finishing touch to that
tiny dimple with the flluffed up sides.

How to Take Care of your Tie

How to Properly Untie Your Tie

A very common mistake a beginner makes when learning how to tie a tie is
that once you get that first knot done right, you would never even think
about untying your tie at the end of the day. Instead, you would probably
prefer to make the loop just big enough to pull your head out and hang
the tied tie on a clothes hanger or over the back of a chair.

Unfortunately, that is the most damaging thing you could ever do to your
tie. Proper care of your tie will save you money that you will have to
spend on new ties.

To properly untie your tie, repeat all of the steps you followed to tie
your tie but now do so in reverse order! Step #7 becomes #1, step #6
becomes #2 and so on…

How to Quickly Get Rid Off Tie Wrinkles

After untying your tie, especially when your tie is made of thick and
heavy silk, you will probably notice that there are wrinkles that make it
look very worn and used – even though you have only worn that tie for
only a couple of hours.

There is something you can do to get rid off that problem overnight.
Basically, all you do is to wrap the tie around your hand, then put it
onto a table or into a drawer and let it rest for a while.

1) Hold the narrow end of your tie with your thumb while letting the wide
end hang down to the floor.

2) Wrap the wide end around your hand several times.

3) Take the wrapped-up tie and place it on a flat surface.

You will see that after only a few hours all of the wrinkles will be gone
and your tie looks as fresh and new as if you had just purchased it at a
store!

Wrapping up your ties is also great while on travel to prevent the ties
from being damaged in a tightly-packed suitcase.

How to Treat Tie Stains

take your stained tie to your local dry cleaner. While dry-cleaning will
usually remove the stain , the shiny look and feel of your tie will be
gone, too!

Therefore, make every effort to protect your tie during meals.

Never treat tie stains with stain-remover!

Supreme Capt. inspires West Coast Muslims

Captain Sharrieff recalls early tests of Muslims

LOS ANGELES – The Fruit of Islam (F.O.I.) of Temple No. 27 and
surrounding areas recently were honored to receive and host one of the
Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s chief aides, Captain Raymond Sharrieff,
Supreme Captain of the Nation of Islam.

BY SPECIAL invitation from the administrative staff of Muhammad’s Temple
No. 27, the  Supreme Captain was on hand at a recently held F.O.I.
 class to spark an all-out drive on the West Coast.

The drive, conducted concurrently throughout the Nation of Islam, is
threefold: to increase the distribution of Whiting H&G, imported by the
Honorable Elijah Muhammad to feed hungry Black people;  to also increase
the sales of Muhammad Speaks newspaper, which represents spiritual food
to the Black man-in-the-streets; and finally, to raise funds to complete
the purchase of a jet for the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, which will
enable Him to travel about the country in comfort while fulfilling His
Divine mission.

THE SUPREME CAPTAIN

said that the F.O.I. is an Army but not in the traditional sense of the
world’s armies. It is not an army of destruction, it is an army of
construction. Our arms consist of Muhammad Speaks and Whiting H&G, he
added.

“We have embarked upon a national drive,” he told the receptive group of
men. “It is  our duty as F.O.I. to push this national drive to success.”

The Supreme Captain, a veteran Muslim of 41-years service,  recalled
how, during the 1940′s when the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was arrested on
various  trumped charges including draft evasion, the Nation of Islam
launched one of its first drives.

IN THE EARLY days of Islam, Captain Sharrieff revealed, hypocrites,
disbelievers, and  police were after the Messenger seeking to arrest Him
or take His life. Almighty God Allah, who came in the Person of Master
Fard Muhammad, to whom Praise is forever due, warned the Messenger never
to stay in one town for too long. So the Honorable Elijah Muhammad went
from city to city trying to avoid His enemies. As He went, He continued
His work, leaving the teachings of Islam along the way.

“Finally,” Captain Sharrieff remembered, “the Messenger became tired of
running from the enemy so He let Himself be caught by the enemy.”

THE MESSENGER of Allah, consequently, was arrested in Washington D.C. The
amount required to get Him released was $5,000. At that time there were
very few believers, so for a small Temple that was a sizeable sum, he
said.

Setting a historical context for his audience, he pointed out, “Temple
No. 27 was not around at that time, nor was 26, 25, 24 and on down the
line. In fact, at that time, Temple No. 5 was not even in existence.”

The Supreme   Captain continued: “The Messenger sent us a success prayer
while He was still in jail: this prayer was memorized by the believers.
We went out in the Name of Allah, using this prayer of success, and in a
short time we had raised that money.

AFTER HEARING the Supreme Captain recite the prayer that the Messenger
had given the early believers, the F.O.I. responded to the beautiful
 and inspirational prayer by singing “All Praise is due to Allah for the
Hon. Elijah Muhammad.”

Present at the F.O.I. meeting were contingents of F.O.I. from Los
Angeles, Compton, Watts, Long Beach, San Diego and distant Albuquerque,
N.M. To the man, a commitment was made for full and complete
participation in the day drive.

Upon conclusion of the class, a united vow was made to resound the name
of Muhammad  throughout the world.
